What does ‘fat loss’ mean in a body-contouring clinic?
In this context, fat loss usually means reducing the circumference or changing the silhouette of a selected area by acting on subcutaneous fat. It does not mean removing deep visceral fat around organs, treating obesity, or guaranteeing a lower number on the scale.
Subcutaneous fat
Pinchable tissue beneath the skin may be considered for selected contouring methods.
Visceral fat
Fat around internal organs is addressed through medical weight management, not a surface contouring device.
Loose skin or muscle
Fullness or shape may come from skin, muscle, a hernia, swelling or another cause that needs a different plan.
Diagnosis before device
A consultation that starts by selling a machine before examining the concern reverses the proper order. The anatomy and goal should determine the option.
